Who's Teaching?
Our Courses feature many experts, representing many aspects of Permaculture. And our teachers all make their living DOING permaculture, not just teaching it.
The Usual Suspects
Farmer Dave Blume, founder and director, International Institute of Ecological Agriculture.
Bob Theis, Natural Building and Design.
Joel Salatin, farmer, author of Pastured Poultry Profit$, Salad Bar Beef , You Can Farm: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Start and Succeed in a Farming Enterprise , and Family Friendly Farming: A Multi-Generational Home-Based Business Testament.
Larry Korn, translator of The One Straw Revolution.
Ernest Callenbach, author of Ecotopia and Ecotopia Emerging.
Carol Broulliet, local currencies specialist.
Including the core group, the IIEA faculty is an association of many highly experienced teachers in Permaculture and some of the upcoming new talents. The teacher list for each session varies for each course but often includes up to ten instructors. Some notable past Guest lecturers have included:
Bill Mollison-Co-Founder of Permaculture
Alan Wiseman - Author of Gaviotas
Starhawk-Author and permaculture social activist
Larry Santoyo-Noted designer
Sharon Hope-Master Dowser and water consultant
Paolo Soleri - Architect of Arcosanti in Arizona
New Talent
New permaculture teachers are encouraged to submit proposals for sections of the course. Upcoming Permaculturalists are always welcomed by the IIEA. Promising new leaders are screened to ensure the maintenance of high quality instruction that the IIEA is justifiably noted for.
